TERMINOLOGY YOU SHOULD KNOW AND UNDERSTAND
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the activity of improving the volume and quality of real time traffic to your website by optimizing your web pages. This is done so that you get the best ranking without having to pay the search engine since your website is relevant to the search query entered by the user. This can be a time consuming process and could require your website to be revised with the proper coding. These listings are referred to as organic listings.
Pay Per Click (PPC) is an advertising method in which the advertiser only pays when a viewer clicks the ad. Advertisers select keywords (on search engines) or demographic/geographic profiling (on websites) and bid for placement. Bids vary from keywords and websites. This is a much better system than any CPM campaign. And a major benefit is that you can get instant traffic from this type of campaign rather than waiting for your website to appear in the search engine results. (Also referred to as CPC - Cost Per Click.)
Cost Per Thousand (CPM) is the cost of 1,000 impressions. Although this seems like an inexpensive advertising method, it can get costly very quickly. Especially since the current click-through rate for banner ads is 0.10%. Simple math - for every 1,000 times your ad is displayed, less than one (1) person will click through to your website.
Cost Per Action (CPA) is when your advertisement is displayed, someone clicks on the ad, and then actually purchases something.
Cost Per Lead (CPL) is when the advertiser only pays if someone sees your ad, clicks on the ad, and then becomes a lead. A lead can be an online form, e-mail newsletter sign up, or anything that is predefined as a lead.
Return on Investment (ROI) is the percentage of profit that results from any marketing or advertising campaign. An advertiser should know the number they are comfortable with spending for each lead/sale prior to starting any campaign. Otherwise, neither you nor the firm that you hire knows what goals are important to reach.
Analytic Programs, such as Google Analytics, are tools that assist in gathering and analyzing data about website usage. Information that can be found in most tools: page views, click through rates, bounce rates, conversion, keywords, traffic sources, etc.
MORE TECHNICAL TERMINOLOGY THAT YOU MAY BE CURIOUS ABOUT
301 Redirect is an error message that the web server sends when someone or something (like a search engine spider) requests a page on your website and it has moved to a permanent new location. This is important because if the wrong type of redirect is done, you can get your website banned in search engines for duplicate content.
A very common example of where to implement a 301 Redirect is with your website domain. Search engines may think that: www.yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com are different sites with duplicate content. You should implement a 301 Redirect so that only one variation of the domain is crawled and cataloged.
Bounce Rate is used to represent the percentage of visitors that come to your site and "bounce" away to another site rather than continuing on to other pages within your website. High bounce rates tend to mean that your website is driving traffic that is not appropriate. Too high of a bounce rate, and search engines will eventually remove your site for those keywords.
White Hat SEO uses strategies which are considered ethically correct and legitimate by SEO’s as well as search engines while spidering a site. It would be best to use this tactic as a means of achieving top ranking in the search results for real time traffic. These tactics will not lead to penalties which are generally imposed when Black Hat SEO is used and even though it may take some amount of time to reap the rewards of this process, it will surely bring in promising results in terms of high rakings.
Black Hat SEO employs techniques that are considered illegitimate and ethically incorrect and which have been or will surely be penalized and cause your website to be banned by search engines. Since Black Hat SEO is subject to abuse widely because it tends to harm search engine user experience, it is highly recommended to avoid using it as a means of attaining high ranking.

BloggingHave you ever wondered why most successful blogs are not on blogspot? Don't get me wrong, it's a great platform, but it doesn't help you in anyway.
In fact, Google knows that a lot of people use their system to try to get good rankings, so they only show them in their Blog Search.
We recommend using programs like WordPress, which can be easily installed. And the best thing - it's FREE just like blogspot!
E-Commerce StatisticThe current average E-Commerce conversion rate is 1.74%. That means for every 100 people that visit your website, less than two (2) people will purchase from you.
If that's not enough for you, contact AMG today and we'll help you increase your website's conversion rate.
